Spatial Design

We specialise in Spatial Design, a contemporary design discipline that crosses the boundaries of architecture, interior design and installation design as well as certain areas of public art. Our work delivers value and understanding in spaces across scales -both in the private and public realm- by focusing upon the flow of people between multiple areas of interior and exterior environments. We regard every project as a bridge that joins traditional built environment disciplines together with the people they are designed to serve.

Computational Design

“Empowering digital design through precise, innovative solutions” We provide high end computational design services for design problems of different scales. We bring computational methods and analytical techniques to each stage of the design process and use data to drive our decision making process. This allows us to develop flexible design solutions that are specific to the needs of the client and can handle project complexity. This approach enables us to generate multiple design alternatives on the fly, evaluate and optimize according to the requirements or desires of our clients and thus make more informed decisions.

Digital Fabrication

With the help of computational modelling, our studio initiates a safe and efficient route for you, from concept to machine – from design to production. We provide 3D construction documentation and process the data required for CNC controlled fabrication, and we ensure that, in the end, all the components fit together perfectly. In addition, our Studio features a fabrication facility with the capability of rapid prototyping through the extensive and efficient use of Digital Fabrication means such as 3d Printing and 3d Scanning, CNC Milling and Laser Cutting. Through years of experimentation and experience we have developed a number of independent strategies that dramatically reduce the fabrication time needed to create full-scale, three-dimensional shapes

Exhibition “Water: The big Challenge”

SNFCC, Athens, Greece
View more

Topotheque Design Research Studio was invited to participate at the exhibition “WATER: The Major Challenge”  which took place as part of Green Weekend 2026 at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC). As part of the exhibition, we presented a new iteration of Yfalos — a modular artificial reef system that brings together circular design, computational design, and digital fabrication to explore new approaches to the restoration of marine ecosystems.

Yfalos consists of prefabricated modular concrete elements that are parametrically designed and fabricated through a combination of digital manufacturing techniques — including 3D printing and CNC milling — and traditional casting methods. The modules can then be transported by small boats and deployed by divers, creating new habitats for threatened species while supporting biodiversity in degraded marine environments. The first Yfalos prototype was developed and fabricated at Fab Lab Ioannina and has already been deployed in the waters off Paxoi, Greece. The project explores how computational design and digital fabrication can extend beyond the built environment and contribute to the design of new, adaptable infrastructures for ecological restoration.
