K-House is founded on the needs of openness and security as they fuse in the form of a single family house in Ioannina. Placed in a rather generic greek city context, K-House pushes the envelope further by introducing a new way to deal with the urban surroundings. Inspired by the spiral interplay of human and vehicle flows, the residence is arranged volumetrically around a central courtyard and features several plateaus overlooking it. The courtyard's south side is defined by a structural screen, which filters the sun and controls the ventilation, while preserving a certain degree of privacy, as it was described in the design brief.
